Academic Brexodus? Brexit and the dynamics of mobility and immobility among the precarious research workforce

The article contributes to the emerging literature on intersection of academic mobility and precarity by examining impact 2016 Brexit referendum result immobility projects migrant academics temporary contracts. We draw 22 interviews conducted with early-career researchers in UK Switzerland. examine how process threatened participants’ sense citizenship belonging, heightening their vulnerability both as migrants workers, sometimes making only viable option. show it made visible hidden hierarchies fault lines, prompting unequal strategies struggled maintain prerogatives members communities.
